Spring Cleaning Your Social Media

Ah, spring. The season is finally upon us! We’ve all heard of spring cleaning your home, but have you thought about spring cleaning your social media presence for your business? You should! Its a time of growth and renewal. Let’s dive in.

Facebook

  • Make sure your business’s logo is current.
  • Update your cover photo to something currently going on with your business or appropriate to the season.
  • Update your About Us section and make sure it’s still relevant. Add anything new!
  • Update your business hours and location if anything has changed.
  • Update your contact information so that customers are still able to reach you if needed.

Instagram

  • Make sure your account is verified. You just have to submit a business doc to prove you are the owner.
  • Update your profile picture to a current or seasonal version.
  • Make sure your bio is up-to-date.
  • Check that your link to your website is working properly.
  • Take advantage of the highlights section! Remove any non-relevant or one-time content as well.
  • Make a plan to use the Instagram stories feature. This can only help, not hurt, your business.
  • Remove any photos that no longer correlate to your business.
  • Go through your followers and who you’re following. Remove any spam accounts. Follow those you think are fun and interesting.

Twitter

  • Complete or update your bio, making sure it’s relevant to your business.
  • Update your cover and profile photos to match those of your other social media profiles.
  • Add your website to your bio.
  • Go through your followers and who you’re following. Remove any spam accounts. Follow those you think are fun and interesting.
  • Check the app permissions to make sure all of them are still relevant and safe.

Pinterest

  • Remove or hide (you can make them private) any boards that are no longer relevant.
  • Update your bio with the appropriate information and links.
  • Update your profile picture.
  • Go through your followers and what accounts and boards you follow. Remove any spam or irrelevant accounts. We don’t want the wrong message getting out.
  • Create new boards that have new and relevant information.

Google Biz

  • Review all current info, hours and make sure your location photo is correct.
  • Add new photos of team, store, company, etc.
  • Add any upcoming events to posts
  • Answer any reviews you have not answered yet.

Yelp

  • Review all current info, hours and make sure you have an owner photo
  • Add new photos of team, store, company, etc.
  • Answer any reviews you have not answered yet.
